Group Description:
Navigating the dating world, relationships, and single life can come with its own unique set of experiences—especially when living with vision loss. Visionary Hearts is a monthly peer-led support and networking group specifically for blind and visually impaired (BVI) singles.
This is a safe, inclusive, and uplifting space to share stories, discuss the unique dynamics of dating with a visual impairment, and build meaningful connections with peers who truly understand. Whether you are actively looking for love, navigating the modern dating scene, or focusing on personal growth and self-love while single, you don’t have to do it alone. Come for the shared experiences, stay for the empowerment, laughter, and community support.

- Day: Every 4th Saturday of the month

- Format:Hosted virtually via Zoom
Core Topics & Discussion Themes
Each month, the group will open with general check-ins followed by a focused, facilitated discussion. Topics may include, but not limited to:
- The Modern Dating Scene: Navigating dating apps, accessible technology, and online profiles.
- The "Disclosure" Conversation: When and how to talk about your vision loss with someone new.
- First Date Logistics: Navigating transportation, choosing accessible venues, and independence on a date.
- Confidence & Self-Advocacy: Overcoming misconceptions, building self-esteem, and embracing your identity.
- Healthy Relationships: Boundary-setting, communication, and mutual support.
- Social Mixers: Occasional casual sessions dedicated purely to getting to know one another, playing accessible games, or networking.
Group Guidelines & Values
To ensure a positive and supportive environment for everyone, all participants agree to the following pillars:
- Confidentiality: What is shared in the circle stays in the circle.
- Mutual Respect: We celebrate diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and relationship goals. Every individual’s journey is valid.
- Active Listening: Give everyone the space to share without interruption or immediate judgment.
- Peer Support, Not Professional Therapy: This is a peer-led group focused on shared lived experiences and community empowerment.
Who Should Attend?
Any adult (21+) who identifies as blind, visually impaired, or low vision and is currently single (unmarried, divorced, widowed, or dating casually). Whether you have been blind your entire life or are newly navigating vision loss, your voice and experience are welcome here.
